Almost got a stroke today, no joke. I saw a post ranting about the Greek #subtitles of Ninja Batman on Netflix: either missing or out of synch. Hang on, I was involved in their revision, what the... I rush and check. They are fine, stroke averted, phew, was able to breathe again.

But viewers can't be crazy, there must be some problem. It dawns on me that they might not get the Japanese audio by default, but the English one. And lo and behold! Terrible experience. English dubbing does not follow Japanese at all. And why should it?

Except that when you combine English audio with any language subtitles, it's all totally wrong. It would be fine if it was a conscious choice, but when viewers get this combination by default, they blame the subtitles. And they complain. I wonder if Netflix folks know that.
