Really interested to know what was going on in the mind of the researchers who came up with the term #hallucinations for #NMT results that are completely decoupled from the input sentence.

So, #hallucination was a term first used by researchers working with NMT to mean "untethered from source" but came to mean "untethered from reality" when used by GPT researchers and then users.
Alternative terms include "bullshit", "lies" and less loaded "factual inaccuracies".
