Not much drama in the voices of K-Drama. At least the Spanish ones.

In recent weeks, #PrimeVideo has found itself at the center of a growing controversy over the alleged use of #AI for #dubbing #Korean series in #Spanish. Viewers have noticed that the Spanish voices in shows like 'My Boyfriend is Cupid,' 'True to Love,' and 'The Heartbeat of My Heart' lack the emotional depth and professionalism typical of human dubbing. This has led to speculation that AI technology might be replacing traditional voice actors.

The dubbed versions are no longer available to check, but I watched some clips of examples and indeed the dubbed voices sound unnaturally monotonous and emotionless. However, I'm not sure this is AI or just low-quality, almost amateur dubbing. Some viewers have also pointed out errors in the translated scripts, including literal translations and phrases that make no sense within the scene's context, as well as lack of synchronization between the characters' lip movements and the dubbed audio.

The fact that Prime Video has pulled these dubbed versions shows that viewers are vocal about their preferences and expectations and their voice is heard.

So far, Prime Video has not issued an official statement confirming or denying the use of AI in the dubbing of its Korean series.
