Hi, fellow #subtitling researchers - we are creating a list of areas of research in subtitling. What do you think of this one? Something to add or remove? They are not in any particular order, but I am numbering them for ease of reference:

1. Subtitling workflows and technology (templates, transcription, timing, QA in large-scale operations, impact of AI tools)
2. Subtitling for accessibility: SDH, CC (creativity vs standardization)
3. Intralingual subtitles and non-standard uses (CC without tags to be used with the original audio, dubtitles, aesthetically integrated aka "creative" subtitles)
4. Authors' rights and ethical considerations (reuse of subtitlers' work, e.g. to create a dubbing script, ethical implications of AI-assisted workflows)
5. Creativity and imagination in subtitling (strategies and techniques to address units of creative potential: e.g. puns, humour, third languages)
6. Viewer reception studies (comprehension and cognitive load, subtitle presentation speed versus viewers' reading speed, impact of non-standard subtitles)
7. Working conditions, client expectations, new roles
8. Pivot subtitling - Low-resource languages
9. Subtitling pedagogy and training
10. Translation Studies and Subtitling Theory (how subtitling contributes to the broader field of translation studies)
