Too immersed in my bubble of translation and education, I missed a crucial ( 😜 ) aspect of AI repercussions: Is ChatGPT making #astrologists obsolete?
I overheard an astrologist on TV trying to educate her viewers: "My astrological maps are the best. Many of you keep sending me messages that ChatGPT gives different results. Just because it's AI it doesn't mean it's infallible".
So, some people prefer ChatGPT because it gives them personalized astrological maps. The TV astrologist gives generic predictions, after all, right?
It seems to be a matter of trust. But then again if you believe in the influence of the stars and that it can be interpreted by astrologists, why not believe in ChatGPT doing the same? Be a companion for people trying to make sense out of the randomness of the world, trying to control the future by predicting it (among other uses of emotional support etc)?
I'm imagining astrologists gathering in unions trying to figure out ways to convince people of their added value. How the world will be a worse place without them.
