Some cats have seven lives, not nine.

I’m reviewing a series set in Brazil, where cats have seven lives, like the Greek ones. In the English pivot template, they became nine, and that version slipped into the Greek translation more than once.

And I find myself wondering: would a Greek audience notice? Would they pause at the mismatch with their cultural expectation? And what about viewers who understand the original Brazilian Portuguese?

PS: If you're more interested in the number of cat's lives than in #pivotsubtitling and #audiencereception, a quick search says that #nine is a magical number in Germanic and Northern mythologies (e.g. nine worlds in Norse cosmology), and #seven is the dominant symbolic number in Mediterranean and Biblical traditions.
