I have always admired mathematicians and their work as perhaps the purest form of thinking. The fields are very different, but I read something I recognised: a new expectation that mathematicians need to "digest and explain a messy AI proof - work that could easily be some combination of thankless, barely-credited, competitive, and unfun".
Translators know a thing or two about this, so, dear mathematicians, if you have a translator around, talk to them. They'll surely offer a sympathetic ear, and maybe have some useful things to say about credit, expertise, accountability, invisible labour, and more.
